Knowing which users have accessed specific content at any\r\ngiven time is critical for many business requirements, such as regulatory compliance and records management. \r\nNotes: \r\nOnly site-collection owners can run audit log reports.\r\nIf the Audit log Reports link is not available under Site Settings, make sure you have the Site Collection\r\nFeature “Reporting” activated.\r\nPages (such as .aspx) aren't considered documents so they can't be audited in SharePoint Servers 2019\r\nor 2016.\r\nSharePoint audit log reports function differently than classic audit log reports.\r\nSharePoint administrators can directly download data from the Microsoft 365 Management Activity API.\r\nSelect your version of SharePoint from one of the tabs below:\r\nRun Audit Log Reports in SharePoint:\r\n1. Select Settings \u003e Site settings. If you don't see Site settings, select Site information and then select View\r\nall site settings. Some pages might require you to select Site contents, and then Site settings.\r\n2. If you are not at the root of your site collection, under Site Collection Administration, select Go to top\r\nlevel site settings.\r\nNotes: \r\nThe Site Collection Administration section won't be available if you don't have the necessary\r\npermissions. You need to be a member of the default Site Collections Administrators group or a\r\nfarm administrator.\r\nIf the Audit log reports link is not available under Site Collection Administration, make sure you\r\nhave the Site Collection Feature “Reporting” activated.\r\n3. On the Site Settings page, under Site Collection Administration, select Audit log reports.\r\nscreenshot of audit log reports\r\nhttps://support.office.com/en-us/article/configure-audit-settings-for-a-site-collection-a9920c97-38c0-44f2-8bcb-4cf1e2ae22d2\r\nPage 1 of 2\n\nActivate the \"Reporting\" feature\r\nIf you don't see the Audit log reports link under Site Collection Administration, do the following to activate the\r\n\"Reporting\" feature:\r\n1. Under Site Collection Administration, select Site collection features.\r\nscreenshot of selecting Site collection features\r\n2. Select Reporting \u003e Activate. screenshot of activate log reporting\r\nUsing Unified Audit Logging\r\nMicrosoft 365 Unified Audit Logging now supports SharePoint and OneDrive. Unified auditing provides access to\r\nevent logs (like view, create, edit, upload, download, and delete) and sharing actions like invitation and access\r\nrequests, and synchronization activity. For more information about what Unified Audit Logging in Microsoft 365\r\nprovides for SharePoint, see Audited activities.\r\nAudit Log Report changes (Effective 2021):\r\nTrimming audit log reports: Trimming s no longer a feature but you can still access files that were\r\ntrimmed in the past in the designated document library. \r\nEditing Specific Events: Audit Log Reports no longer allows for the editing of specific events. Audit Log\r\nReports is still available but is limited to specific types of events.\r\nCustomize Reports: The location option has been hidden due to the discontinuation of support for reports\r\nscoped at the sub-site level.\r\nRelated Topics\r\nView audit log reports\r\nNeed more help?\r\nWant more options?\r\nExplore subscription benefits, browse training courses, learn how to secure your device, and more.\r\nSource: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/configure-audit-settings-for-a-site-collection-a9920c97-38c0-44f2-8bcb-4cf1e2ae22d2\r\nhttps://support.office.com/en-us/article/configure-audit-settings-for-a-site-collection-a9920c97-38c0-44f2-8bcb-4cf1e2ae22d2\r\nPage 2 of 2",
