The listing, seen by POLITICO, said the ministry has until February 10 to pay a ransom or else \"all\r\navailable data will be published\" on the dark web site.\r\nCybercriminals using Lockbit 2.0 traditionally threaten to publish data from victims who don’t pay the ransoms it\r\ndemands in order to put extra pressure on them, in a technique called \"double extortion.\"\r\n\"The ministry of justice has become aware of the alert and immediately took steps to carry out the necessary\r\nchecks, in conjunction with the relevant competent departments,\" a spokesperson said in a statement, without\r\nproviding further information about the operation's scale.\r\nOther French organizations have been targeted with the malware in the past.
